Why, Dad?

Terms of Use

Effective September 25, 2026. An app by Frankly Built LLC.

Privacy PolicyApp support

These terms are between you and Frankly Built LLC, a Florida company (“we”, “us”), and cover your use of the Why, Dad? app. By using the app, you agree to them. They’re written to be read, so here they are in plain English.

The app

Why, Dad? gives parents short, age-appropriate scripts and tips for talking with kids about hard questions, like a pet dying, divorce, scary news, where babies come from, and puberty. You may use it for your own personal, non-commercial use on devices you own or control.

If you got the app from Apple’s App Store, Apple’s Licensed Application End User License Agreement (the Standard EULA, https://www.apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula/) also applies. If you got it from Google Play, the Google Play Terms of Service also apply. If these terms and Apple’s Standard EULA disagree, the Standard EULA wins for App Store users.

Not medical, psychological, or legal advice

Please read this part. The app offers general guidance for families. It is not medical, psychological, or legal advice, and it is not a substitute for care from your child’s doctor, a therapist, or a counselor. Nothing in the app creates a doctor-patient or counselor-client relationship.

The answers are written by us from free, published guidance by children’s health and safety organizations, and each topic lists and links the sources it draws on. Those organizations have not reviewed or endorsed the app, and the answers have not been reviewed by a doctor or therapist. Every child and family is different: use your own judgment, adapt the words to your kid, and talk to a professional when something feels off. The app’s “When to get extra help” sections list signs worth acting on.

If anyone is in danger, call 911. If a child may be thinking about suicide or self-harm, call or text 988. If you think a child is being hurt, call or text the Childhelp National Child Abuse Hotline at 1-800-422-4453. These are U.S. services; outside the U.S., contact your local emergency number.

Free and Premium

Five topics are free, each with answers for every age band.

Why, Dad? Premium unlocks all 13 topics for every age band. Premium is an auto-renewing subscription:

  • Plans: $24.99 per year or $3.99 per month in the United States. Prices in other countries are set by the App Store or Google Play and shown before you buy.
  • Free trial: new subscribers may get a 7-day free trial when the store offers it. If you don’t cancel before the trial ends, the subscription starts and you’re charged for the plan you picked.
  • Payment: charged to your Apple ID or Google Play account when you confirm the purchase, or when the free trial ends.
  • Renewal: the subscription renews automatically for the same period and price unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the current period ends. Your account is charged for the renewal within the 24 hours before the period ends.
  • Canceling: manage or cancel anytime in your App Store account settings or in Google Play > Payments and subscriptions. You can also tap Settings > Manage subscription in the app. Canceling stops the next renewal; Premium stays on until the end of the period you paid for.
  • Refunds: Apple and Google handle payments and refunds under their own policies. We can’t issue refunds for store purchases directly.
  • Price changes: if the price ever changes, the store will tell you first as its rules require.

Your stuff

What you add (kids’ first names or nicknames and ages, saved answers, settings) stays on your phone. We don’t have a copy and can’t restore it if your phone is lost or the app is deleted. Your phone’s own backups may include it.

Links to other sites

Topics link to the published pages they draw on, and the Help screen links to support lines. Those sites are run by others, and we aren’t responsible for their content, availability, or privacy practices.

Things you agree not to do

Don’t copy, resell, or redistribute the app or its content, try to get around Premium, or reverse engineer the app except where the law allows. Sharing a single answer card with family or friends through the app’s Share button is fine.

No warranty

We work hard on the app and try to keep it accurate and current, but it’s provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent the law allows. Guidance changes over time, and a source page may move or change after we cite it.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, Frankly Built LLC isn’t liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for lost data, arising from your use of the app or from decisions made based on its content. Our total liability for any claim about the app is limited to the amount you paid for it in the 12 months before the claim. Some places don’t allow these limits, so they may not all apply to you.

Changes and ending

We may update the app and these terms. If we make a significant change to these terms, we’ll update the effective date and, where it matters, tell you in the app. You can stop using the app at any time by deleting it (and canceling any subscription in your store account).

Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, USA, except where the law where you live says otherwise.
