Why, Dad?

Privacy Policy

Effective September 25, 2026. An app by Frankly Built LLC.

Terms of UseApp support

Why, Dad? is an app by Frankly Built LLC, a Florida company (“we”, “us”). This policy explains what the app does with information. The short version: everything you put in the app stays on your phone. We don’t collect it, we can’t see it, and we don’t sell anything about you.

What you put in the app, and where it stays

To pitch each answer at the right level, the app stores these things only on your phone, inside the app’s private storage:

  • Your kids’ first names (or nicknames) and ages, and the age band you picked for each
  • What the app should call you (for example “Dad”)
  • Answers you save, and the topics you opened recently (so Home can show “Asked this week”)
  • Your settings, and whether Premium is active
  • A random ID the app makes for this install (it isn’t tied to you or your phone, and in this version it’s never sent anywhere)

None of this is sent to us or to anyone else. There are no accounts and no sign-in, and in this version of the app there is no server of its own. The whole library of answers is built into the app, so it works without an internet connection.

Purchases

Why, Dad? Premium is a subscription sold through Apple’s App Store or Google Play. Apple or Google handles the payment and your payment details. We never see your name, email, or card. To know whether Premium is active, the app asks the App Store or Google Play on your phone; that check is between your phone and the store. Apple’s and Google’s own privacy policies cover what they do with purchase information.

Links and sharing

Each topic links to the published guidance it is based on, and the Help screen links to phone numbers and websites for support lines. These open in your browser, phone, or messages app only when you tap them, and those sites have their own privacy policies.

When you tap Share on an answer, the app makes an image of it on your phone and opens your phone’s share sheet. It goes only where you send it. If you choose to save the image to your photos, your phone asks you first.

Backups

If you have turned on your phone’s own backups (for example iCloud Backup or Google backup), your phone may include the app’s data in that backup. The backup lives in your account with Apple or Google, under their terms. We can’t see it.

What we don’t do

  • No analytics, crash reporting, or usage tracking
  • No advertising and no ad identifiers
  • No tracking across apps or websites
  • No selling or sharing of personal information
  • No third-party tools in the app that collect data

Deleting your data

Go to Settings > Start over in the app to erase your kids, saved answers, and settings from the phone. Deleting the app also deletes all of its data. Because we never had a copy, there’s nothing for us to delete on our side, and we can’t recover anything for you. A subscription belongs to your App Store or Google Play account; to end it, cancel it there.

Children’s privacy

Why, Dad? is made for parents and other grown-ups, not for children. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children. A parent may enter a child’s first name or nickname and age; that information stays on the parent’s phone and is never sent to us.

Not medical advice

The app gives general guidance to help parents talk with their kids. It is not medical, psychological, or legal advice. This doesn’t change anything about your privacy; we mention it so it’s clear the app doesn’t ask for or keep health information.

Changes to this policy

If the app ever changes how it handles information, we will update this policy and the effective date above before the change ships. If a change means any data would leave your phone (for example, a future feature that sends a question to our server to write an answer), we will say so plainly in the app and in this policy first, and that feature will be something you choose to use.
